Another way to improve CPU performance is with parallel
processing, a technique that uses more than ne proceeding running
simultaneously, in parallel. The idea is to speed up the execution of a program
by dividing the program into multiple fragments that can execute
simultaneously, each on its own processor. A program being executed across more
than one processor will execute faster than it would by using a single
processor.

Central Processing Unit (CPU)
The central processing unit (CPU) is a microprocessor (or processor for short) an integrated circuit chip that is capable of processing electronic signals. It interprets instructions given by software and carries out those instructions by processing data and controlling the rest of the computer’s components. Carefully inspects your environment and you’ll find that processors are found in all kinds of electronic and mechanical devices such as, automobile engines, cell phones, calculators, and even other mechanical equipment. No other single element of a computer determines its overall performance as much as the CPU. Although microprocessors are complex devices, the underlying ideas are easy to understand. When you’re ready to buy a computer, you’ll need to understand the capabilities and limitation of a given microprocessor.
